Change in Career

Since the Halibut Commission decided that they'd had enough data for their Tag Recovery Program that lasted for five years...I am forced to make a change in my career. Fresh April Snow

Sitka Herring Seine Opener March 29, 2010

Smoke and Roar and Race for the herring! This was a healthy harvest year for the commercial fisherman of the Southeast Alaska. It was a beautiful site to see all of the seiners and packers out there on the water...and so close to shore as well. I am reminded of the time when I used to seine in the waters of the Prince William Sound with my father for pink and silver salmon. I sure miss those days! Every year, about this time, I get fishin' fever and the itchin' to mend nets!

Grandma Judy's Quilt

I made this for her last year for Christmas, but I forgot to take a picture of it before I gave it to her, so this year I made sure I got my picture! This quilt was queen sized and so beautiful...every time I go to see her family, I secretly admire my quilt on the back of her couch and pat myself on the back. Hee Hee Hee

RV Christmas

This is our beautiful Christmas tree...Space is kind of limited in an RV, but we did have fun decorating our cardboard tree and I even found an old Avon Airstream type camper ornament that I cleverly parked under the tree.

As you can see...there's no room under the tree for presents...

And Daryl made out like a bandit! Thank you to all of the Grandmas' and Grandpas'.

Santa Visits Sitka

Every year in Sitka there is an electric Santa parade where Santa is in the firetruck at the end of the parade. And afterwords he goes to the Kettleson Memorial Library and the children line up to sit on Santa's lap to tell him all their Christmas wishes.

Halibut Heads, An Eagle and Me

Here I am at one of the local fish processing plants, Seafood Producers Cooperative, in Sitka, Alaska. This is one of the few places where I scanned Halibut heads for the International Pacific Halibut Commission (IPHC) to find tags for migration tracking data.
