Alaska Airlines Salmon Jet

I had to deliver some fish the other day to get shipped out and I took this picture of an Alaska Airlines Jet through the fence at the airport. I think it's a nice paint job.

Green Thumb After All

This African Violet was given to me as a starter from the nice folks at the Alaska Computer Center here in Sitka as part of their customer appreciation. This is the first one I haven't kaboshed.

Mother's Day Project Completed

I got the instructions to make these flowers from the HP Creative Print Projects website.
I think they turned out beautifully. I used long pins to simulate depth to the flowers...kind of like pollen. Here's the link...Enjoy!

Great Mother's Day Creation

I got this photo from HP Creative Studio's website. I think I'll make some flowers for my Mother and send them to her for Mother's Day...I just need to buy some more blue ink!

Shrimp Fisheries Threatened by Oil Spill in Gulf of Mexico

Here's a story of a Louisiana Shrimp Trawler whose season is set to start in three weeks and all hope is lost due to the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico. This tragedy was not the first for the local commercial fisherman; he has lost his whole lifestyle twice now...the first due to Hurricane Katrina.

I remember the devastation and loss of fisheries that the Exxon Oil Spill caused in Alaska's Prince William Sound. My father too was a shrimper; he used the shrimp season as a buffer to stay ahead of the bills before the pink salmon seine season. Due to the Exxon Spill, the Shrimp Pot fishery was ceased to a halt and all gear had to be removed from the water.

This is the first year that Fish and Game has allowed the Shrimp Pot Fishery to open again after 21 years in the Prince William Sound.

Here's the article was created by Craig Medred reporting in Louisiana for Alaska Dispatch.

More Baby Quilts

Here's the front of one of the quilts I have just made

And here's the back...I just love the school yard fabric!

Here's the front of the other quilt I have created

And here's the back...Monkeying around!

These quilts are specifically designed with baby development in mind. I used fabric that is vibrant in primary colors and textural patterns that allows your baby's development to expand while having fun. These quilts are of convenient size to take anywhere with you while on the go. Stuff it in the diaper bag, tuck it up under your arm, lay it over the stroller, take it to the beach, a friends house, use it as a rug in the play corner...the possibilities are endless.

And when your little one has grown up and no longer uses the quilt, I have designed them so that you can run a small wooden dowel through the top of the seam so that it can be displayed as a wall hanging.

Dimensions: Approximately 36" x 36"
Material: 100% Cotton Pre-washed, Pre-shrunk
81 machine pieced squares total with zig zag stitching around outside seam for added durability

I have made lots of quilts similar to this one and each is distinctive in their own unique way and is guaranteed to become a conversation piece. Thank you for looking and Enjoy!

I also take custom orders...email me at shanleewill@yahoo.com

Gulf of Mexico oil spill could be bigger than Exxon Valdez

Gulf of Mexico oil spill could be bigger than Exxon Valdez

This is crazy! BP is spending $6 million daily in clean up efforts and the White house said they have to pay for all costs (as they should). This spill is going to end up using the world's supply of containment boom! I wonder if the price of absorbent and containment boom has increased over the last few days?

Late Night Bike Ride Through Anchorage

I was reading through some other blogs and I ran across this cool video.

Buzz Lightyear

Vince is into flying RC Airplanes and has named this one BUZZ LIGHTYEAR! The boys at the flying field got a kick out of this one. There's another plane out there called BUTT UGLY.

Earth Week 2010

During Earth Week this year Daryl and I walked through Totem Park

We visited Baranof School where they had a workshop for the kids and they learned about the many varieties of birds and the different uses for their beaks along with the foods that they eat.

We also went to the Sheldon Jackson Aquarium today and got to check out the local sealife. I think this one is called a Daryloctopus!

The Future of Shopping

The Future of Shopping

Check out this video...This could change the way we shop for clothing and could be really convenient and time efficient. If only it could be this easy now! But may be coming in the near future.
